Lemons have been used in skin and hair preparations through the ages. Lemons have been used to improve complexions and in hair rinses to lighten hair. You can improve your appearance with these lemon skin and hair care tips. Lemons refresh the skin and nourish it with Vitamin C and other nutrients. Lemons may also help to exfoliate the skin.
Lemons contain ingredients that are beneficial to skin and hair. Fresh lemon juice will soften and freshen your skin. Rubbing a fresh lemon on your hands, arms, elbows, face and knees will soften the skin there. Lemon juice also fades discoloration, freckles, acne scars and age spots. Leaving lemon juice on your skin overnight will freshen and lighten the skin. Add the juice of one or more lemons to a bowl of water for lemon skin care treatments.
Lemon juice also has a cleansing astringent effect that will help to tone the skin and reduce blackheads. Rub lemon juice on blackheads and leave the juice on overnight. Wash your face in the morning. This lemon skin treatment should tighten the enlarged pores and eliminate the blackheads.
Dry skin can be improved with lemon juice, too. You can make a nourishing lemon tofu facial for your skin. Tofu has Vitamin E, collagen, lecithin and phytoestrogens that help to rejuvenate your skin and improve its texture and elasticity. Add the juice of one lemon to a package of tofu. Stir the lemon juice into the tofu. Avoiding the eyes put the skin treatment on your face. Leave it on for 15 minutes. Then wash it off with soap and warm water.
Lemon juice can be used with other exfoliates to improve your skin.
You can also dip a lemon in sugar and scrub your skin. This lemon sugar scrub will remove dry dead skin cells, lighten your skin and improve its texture. Your skin will look fresh and healthy.
Lemon juice can lighten your hair, too. To lighten your hair mix a half cup of lemon juice into a cup and a half of water. Then put this on your hair, being careful not to get it in your eyes. You can also create a lemon rinse to improve oily hair. Add the juice of two lemons to a quart of water. Stir the mixture. The lemon hair rinse will help to reduce the excess oil in the hair. Lemon juice will also improve hair growth and reduce dandruff.
